Europe was on the brink of war for many reasons. One of the main reasons was aggressive nationalism. Nationalism is usually a strong force to help unite people, but this time it was a main reason for the violence. Another reason for them being on the brink of the war because economic and imperial rivals. The British felt threatened by the Germans because the Germans had more advanced factories. Militarism and the arms race. All of the countries felt more and more threatened so they continued to build weapons. The fourth reason for this was because of all of the alliances. Fear and distrust lead them to making alliances with eachother, so that they could protect eachother. All of these reasons forced them into war.
