Alexander the Great: Tragedies of his life By: Belal Abdel Alexander the Great is known to many as the greatest ruler of all time. He conquered more lands than lamost anyone has ever conquered. But his life was filled with tragedies, from his childhood throughhout his life until his death. As a child Alexander had to grow up listen to the arguements of his parents. They were always fighting, and usually Alexander would have to listen to it. Also, Alexander's father was always away at campaigns, so as a child Alexander grew up without a father for most of his life. He never really saw his father, so it was his mother who he was always with, and it was his mother's rules that he followed. Wihle he was a young man, Alexander's father died , which meant that Alexander had to take over a ver poor, bad conditioned country, but still it was a country. But, he would always have to deal with uprisings by his people. He would also have to deal with his neighboring countries, who were very mean to him. He also had to take care of fights between people, and all of this is a lot for a young man to handle. Not only that, but when he took over Macedonia, the country had many enemies that he had to worry about. Things would get worse for Alexander, despite all of his conquerings. He would spend all his time conquering lands, then he would get drunk, and if he got mad while drunk he would kill the man who got him mad. He even killed his closest friends when he was drunk. Most of the time he killed people who had helped him greatly at war, or people who even had saved his life. He even killed a friend who he had known his whole life because he got mad at him. After a while Alexander realized what he had done, and he then tried to kill himself. After the incident he was alone for 3 days, just thinking about what he had done. Throughout his life many bad things happened to Alexander, and there is no doubt that all of these things followed him throughout his life, and they were always there, he was always thinking of them. This may have helped him in battles, because it may have sparked a rage inside of him, but even if it helped him in battle, he must have had a feeling of guilt, or emptiness, because not only did he lose his parents, but he lost most of his friends either at war, or at the wrath of his own hands. | ![]() | ![]() |
