What is the difference between free will and fate? Is man's existence determined by fate, or does he have free will? Journal By Belal Abdel The difference between free will and fate is that free will is when someone makes their own decisions, and someone isn't guaranteed that a certain thing is going to happen when they make their decision. On the other hand, fate is when something is pre-determined. That means that something is going to happen or was meant to happen and nothing can change that. There are many examples of fate. When people say they are meant to be in love, they are implying that it is their fate to be in love. There are also many examples of fate in movies. In the movie "Final Destination", a teen falls asleep on a plane before take-off and dreams that the plane crashes. He then wakes up and starts telling people, and he is removed from the plane along with others. Then they watch the plane take off, and it does in fact crash.. Then throughout the movie, the people who got off the plane have bad things happening to them. Odd things, and one by one the all start to get killed. The movie implies by this that someone cannot escape fate, if something is meant to happen, it will ultimately happen. It shows this by the characters getting killed, they were meant to die on the plane and they got off of it, butdeath eventually caught up with them and they ultimately died, as was meant to happen in the first place. I believe that man's existance is determined by fate. If something is meant to happen to you, it happens, no matter what. There is no getting away from something that is supposed to happen. A good example would be death. You are going to die, no matter what, eventually everyone dies, and this is their fate. You cannot escape death, if it wasn't fate, then nobody would die unless they wanted to, if someone gets a life-ending disease, then they were meant to get it, if someone gets murdered it was meant to happen, and there is no getting away from the fact that everyone has something that is meant to happen to them, and nobody can get away from the fact that it will happen. | ![]() | ![]() |
