What are the two root words in the Protestant Reformation? How might these apply to the Church in the 1500's? Protestant Reformation Journal The root words of Protestant Reformation are protest and reform. These rules apply to the Church in the 1500's because they were many protests and reforms during that time period. One of the protests was when Martin Luther went and nailed the 95 thesis's to the door of the church. That started a reformation that would ultimately end indulgences. John Calvin started systematizing Protestant thought in his Institutes of the Christian Religion. This eventually resulted in Calvinism. | ![]() | ![]() |
