Chapter 14 Review Questions 1-10 By Belal Abdel 1. The Renaissance was a time of creativity and also of change in all phases of life. The Renaissance began in the mid-1300's. 2. The Renaissance began in Italy because Italy was the center of Ancient Roman history. 3. The comedies, tragedies, and history were the type of plays that Shakespeare wrote. 4. The printing press helped everybody greatly. It was because of the printing press that there was a religious uprising since so many Bible's were able to be printed, and also Martin Luthers 95 theses were spread almost overnight. 5. The Protestant Reformation was when the Protestants wanted to reform their Church and they had John Calvin as their leader. It began in 1541. 6. Luthers 95 theses were his reasons for being against the sale of indulgences. 7. The English Reformation occured when John Wycliffe called for Church reform, and was finally started when King Henry VIII wanted a divorce from his wife but the church wouldn't allow it. 8.
