Compare and Contrasting the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen

There were many similarities between the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen. To begin with, both say that things can be changed for the good of the people. Also, they both state that people have certain rights guaranteed to them. Another thing would be that the Declaration of Independence says that the governor can pass laws, meaning all people. In the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen says that all people have the right to choose laws. Both state that everyone is innocent until they are proven guilty by a trial by jury. Also, they both state that people were born free.

There are also many differences between the two Declarations. First, one of the Revolutions is against one leader, while the other Revolution is against the entire upper class. In the Rights of Man and Citizen it says nothing about taxation without representation being legal or illegal, while the Declaration of Independence says that it is illegal. In the American Revolution the King was attacking them, but in the French Revolution the aristocracy wasn't waging war. Another difference was that the Americans were mad because the King's officers would go into their houses and do what they wanted, the French didn't have this problem.
